Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) official in Bomet County, Dr Nicholas Kipkoech Kirui, has been conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Project Planning and Management by the University of Nairobi.
Dr Kirui, who is the association secretary, Bomet Chapter, and chairman of KPSA Chepalungu Chapter, received the doctoral degree during the university’s graduation ceremony held on Friday, September 18, 2026, marking a major milestone in his academic journey.
Dr Kirui’s doctoral research focused on financial management, project environment and road construction safety. With several publications in peer-reviewed journals, he stands as a scholar committed to turning knowledge into practical solutions for education, infrastructure and development.
The achievement caps a journey he describes as one of faith, perseverance, sacrifice, knowledge and purpose.
Speaking after the conferment, Dr Kirui expressed gratitude to God, family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers who supported and encouraged him throughout his studies.
“For me, education is not simply about acquiring titles or qualifications. Knowledge carries a responsibility—to inspire, to mentor, to innovate, to solve problems and to serve humanity,” he said.
Dr Kirui said his doctoral studies had strengthened his commitment to education, research, innovation and development, particularly in creating opportunities for young people.
He listed education, infrastructure, electricity, roads, water, healthcare, agriculture, skills development and economic empowerment among areas requiring sustained investment to transform communities.
His philosophy, he said, remains “Service to Humanity | Education and Development.”
Encourages young people
Dr Kirui, popularly known as “Director Kirui” or simply “DK”, also encouraged learners, professionals and young people pursuing academic and career goals to remain focused despite challenges.
He said his academic journey had reinforced his belief that learning is a continuous process that requires research, innovation, collaboration and constant improvement.
“No one is a monopoly of knowledge. Learning is a continuous journey of research, innovation, collaboration and constant improvement,” he said.
The KPSA official and management consultant said he would use the milestone as a springboard for greater service through mentorship, education, research and community development.
He also thanked residents of Chepalungu, colleagues, friends and other well-wishers who attended his thanksgiving luncheon, followed the graduation proceedings or sent messages of goodwill.
“The greatest value of education is not in the title we earn, but in the lives we touch and the difference we make,” he said.

Dr Kirui holds the professional designation PMP and is expected to continue championing education and development initiatives in Bomet and beyond.
