Koderobara wins Migori soccer title to qualify for regionals

Kodero Bara players and technical bench celebrate after bagging the Migori County title.

Koderobara High School will represent Migori County in the Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association Term Two games in football scheduled to take place in Kisii next month.

This is after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Korwa Mixed Secondary School, securing its ticket to the regionals from July 9 to 13 at Kisii School and Cardinal Otunga High School.

The match took place at Isebania KRA grounds. Originally scheduled for Saturday, it got delayed due to fans refusing to vacate the field at Kubweye Mixed Secondary School in Mabera Sub-county.

Felix Casilas scored the all-important goal.

According to Koderobara coach Jacob Aloo, the team is well-prepared for both the regional and national championships.

“Our objective is to represent Kenya at the East Africa Secondary Schools Championships in Uganda,” said Aloo.

“Last year, Agoro Sare upset the formbook to win the regional title. I believe we can also do it. We have prepared well for the regional championships,” he added.

Other schools representing the county are Oyugi Ogango Girls Secondary (netball), Sagegi Mixed (boys volleyball), Kameji Mixed (girls volleyball), Migori Education Center (girls soccer), Friends School Anjego and St Joseph’s Rapogi High School (Rugby 7s), and Friends School Anjego and Kamagambo Day (girls Rugby 7s).
