KNUT Chepkoilel branch Executive Secretary Mr Sammy Bor has called on president William Ruto to retain Prof George Magoha in the education docket to help him spearhead the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum.

Speaking to Education News through a telephone interview, Bor argued that Prof Magoha is well conversant with the new curriculum and someone else in the docket will likely mess up the new curriculum.

“This curriculum requires someone who is more conversant and understands the dynamics of the education sector hence our appeal that Prof Magoha should be retained in the docket. Education is the breeding ground for good leaders, businessmen and career personalities hence the need to be careful about how we deal with the education system,” said Bor.

He appreciated the efforts of the government in ensuring the implementation of CBC progresses well and appealed to the new government to improve and amend a few areas in CBC instead of scrapping it off.

He also expressed concern over inadequate infrastructure in schools and called on the government to provide the same.

He revealed that the teachers in the county will support the president in the implementation of education programmes geared towards bettering the lives of students.

“We applaud the president William Ruto because we know he is equal to the task. We also acknowledge his track record in transforming the sector while he was the Minister of Higher Education.” He noted.
