KNUT top officials meets Education CS Julius Ogamba

The National Steering Committee of the Kenya National Union of Teachers yesterday met the education cabinet secretary Julius Ogamba to review the progress that has been made in the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum and the challenges and the opportunities thus far.

The committee led by the Secretary-General, Collins Oyuu and the National Chairperson, Patrick Karinga Munuhe, explored various ways of optimizing the benefits of CBC through strategic interventions in resource allocation and policy making.

The Education CS insisted that the Ministry remains committed in engaging all stakeholders in order to assure a consultative and inclusive roll-out of CBC, especially as the country prepares for the inaugural transition to Senior School.

This backdrop follows after the MoE held dialogue from March 7-13, which engaged stakeholders; and the matter of Mathematics not being  a compulsory subject in the senior school syllabus came in, though there’s still consultations where the conclusions shall be made accordingly.
