KNUT tells Machogu not to hurry to release KCSE results

KNUT (Kenya National Union of Teachers) has asked Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) not to hurry to release the KCSE results but allow examiners to compile and give candidates the marks they deserve.

Addressing the press in Bungoma today, Aggrey Namisi, KNUT National Vice Chairman, blamed CS Machogu for the mess that resulted from the rush to release the KCPE examination.

Namisi’s sentiments come a day after speculations that the CS could release the results on Friday.

“We are not in a hurry. Give the markers time to analyze results well before you release. We don’t want to experience what happened during the KCPE examination release,” Namisi said.

The unionist decried massive exam cheating, calling on CS Machogu to return the education system back on track.

“Of late, we have experienced massive exam cheating and it is the reason why KNUT is asking the CS to ensure no exam leaks happen again,” the unionist noted.

Namisi, in addition, called on President William Ruto to crack the whip and fire the Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) who are not delivering on their mandate.
