KNUT, KUPPET differ on composition of CBC review team

By Education News Reporter

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Deputy Secretary General Hesbon Otieno has welcomed the 42-member task force appointed yesterday by President Ruto to review the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

He said that it was a promising team that inspired hope to stakeholders because it has a balanced mix of professionals including teachers who are the core implementers of the Curriculum.

“The Working Party is not bad because it is balanced with a large number of people including university dons, teachers, directors of education and educationists,” said Otieno.

He added: “We hope they will be able to do their work well and gather as much as possible within the timeline they have been given.”

However, the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Secretary General Akelo Misori cried foul saying they were left out despite being relevant stakeholders.

“We do not know what informed us being left out. We thought we were relevant stakeholders but what is important is that exclusion from the team does not exclude us from giving our views,” said Misori.
