KNEC mourns former CEO who passed after long illness

The burial will take place this afternoon at his family farm in Machakos.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) CEO, Dr. David Njengere, has announced the passing of Dr. Ahmed Yusuf on May 7, following a prolonged illness.

Dr. Yusuf was a distinguished civil servant who served as the CEO of KNEC from 1978 to 1998. During his tenure, he laid a strong foundation for assessment systems in Kenya and East Africa.

He also held esteemed positions in various educational committees across East Africa. His enduring legacy includes his contributions to high-level policy forums, notably the recent Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, where his wisdom and dedication left an indelible mark.

“His legacy includes contributions to high-level committees, including the recent Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, where his wisdom and dedication left an indelible mark. The burial takes place this afternoon at the Machakos Family Farm,” Dr Njengere said in a statement.

His burial will take place this afternoon at his family farm in Machakos.

He wished the family comfort, strength, and fortitude during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace—Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.

“We beseech the Almighty to grant his family solace, strength and fortitude during this trying time. May his soul find eternal peace, Janntul Firdaus. Ameeen.”
