The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has launched the online registration of candidates for the 2022 national exams set to be administered in November – December 2022.
The exercise, which starts today, will close on May 14, 2022.
Speaking during the launch of the exercise at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha said candidates will be registered for the following exams: Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA), Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and KCSE Qualifying Test.
The CS, who was flanked by the Principal Secretary for Basic Education Dr. Julius O. Jwan, KNEC Chairman Dr. John Onsanti and KNEC CEO Dr. David Njengere, ruled out offline registration of candidates.
“Registration will be done online by the respective school heads,” said Prof. Magoha.
He asked the school heads to provide correct information on learners with special needs during the registration process.
“The names of candidates should be captured correctly as they’ll be used in other examinations. Head teachers and sub-county directors of education should ensure that the candidates’ birth certificate numbers, gender, year of birth, citizenship and subjects done are registered correctly,” he said.
He stressed on the need for parents and guardians to be involved during the verification of KPSEA and KCPE candidates.
Prof Magoha said that candidates won’t be allowed to transfer to other schools once they have been registered.
However, he pointed out that special cases related to illness and insecurity will be handled appropriately once brought to the attention of KNEC through the Sub-county Directors of Education.
