Nyakach Girls High School are new champion of the fourth edition of the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom tournament in the girls category, which came to an end on Sunday April 14 in Kisumu.
In the boys’ battle, Obunga from Nyanza beat PASC Langa from Rift Valley 4-2 on post-match penalties a draw 1-1 at full time.
Nyakach Girls from Kisumu County outshined Laikipia’s Barcelona ladies 4-0 to emerge on top.

They will tour Spain during term two of the school calendar.
Player of the game Saum Mwasungo grabbed a brace with Emily Morang’a and Maureen Atieno scoring a goal piece.
“It was a tough match but we followed instructions from the technical bench. We are happy with the KSh1 million cash prize. This will go a long way in helping us, the school and our parents,” Mwasungo said.

Nyakach Girls’ coach Chrispin Odindo applauds the team for putting a spirited fight to clinch the championship title which was the school’s main aim.
“When the tournament started, our target was to reclaim out title. I’m happy we have won the tournament after a convincing win against Barcelona ladies.”

The winner was awarded KSh1 million, first runners up, Barcelona girls got KSh500, 000, and Wiyeta Girls and Brenda Girls who lost in semis and came third were awarded KSh250, 000.
The best goalkeeper, top scorer and Most Valuable Player (MVP) received KSh50,000 each as every player, winner, runners-up also awarded Neon Smartphones, the first locally assembled 4G smartphone in Kenya.
The event was graced by Safaricom’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa who was the chief guest, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o and FKF President Nick Mwendwa.
