Kisumu East Member of Parliament Shakeel Shabir has continued coming under attack for rebuking teachers within his constituency in public.

The latest attack was unleashed over the weekend by Kisumu West Member of Parliament, Rosa Buyu.

Buyu said they are MPs who will force Shabir to apologise on the floor of the house this Tuesday when the house resumes its sittings.

The MP, speaking at Rabuor Primary School during the Kenya National Union of Teachers’ Kisumu city branch Annual General Meeting, said Shabir must be condemned in the strongest terms possible.

Buyu said Shabir ought to have followed the correct procedure if there had been a problem at St Peter’s Kindi Secondary School, instead of humiliating the teachers in public.

The MP, visibly annoyed, said the trend must not continue in this modern era.

Shabir has since apologised over the issue, even though teacher unions have rejected his apology.

The apology demands were issued by the Kenya National Union of Teachers and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET).

They threatened to call a strike if the MP remained adamant.
