Education stakeholders at Thurdibuoro Secondary School in Nyakach, Kisumu county are in shock following the brutal murder of their colleague Mercy Dache by her husband Calvin Otieno.
Nyakach sub county police boss Daniel Chacha confirmed the incident, revealing further that the couple had three children.
He confirmed that the police have arrested Otieno as investigations are ongoing. He asked the family of the deceased, teachers and learners at the school to remain calm.
Neighbours disclosed that the couple engaged in a domestic dispute before the man picked a panga and attacked his wife causing several severe injuries.
The neighbours rushed to the scene to find the teacher unconscious. They rushed her to Katito Medical Hospital for emergency medical attention. She was later transferred to Bliss Medical Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) has called upon the relevant authorities to investigate the heinous crime to ensure justice is served.
