Kisumu Principals gather for prayers for their KCSE candidates

A section of the Kisumu County principals who came together at Tom Mboya Labour College to pray for their candidates.

Secondary school heads from Kisumu County today held prayers as they prepare their candidates for various national examinations later in the year.

The interdenominational prayers conducted at the Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu revolved around the candidates, education leaders, and even parents.

KESSHA  Kisumu chapter chairman George Opiyo said that this is the first time such a prayer was organized in the county, presided over by a dean at the Anglican Church of Kenya Maseno South Diocese Reverend Oscar Nyalenge, Assistant Bishop of the African Inland Church Nyanza region Reverend Tom Ochuka, and Benjamin Otieno of the Catholic Church.

Opiyo noted that they involved several denominations given the diversity that exists within the society.

Nyanza Regional Director of Education Lawrence  Karutimi and her TSC counterpart Jane Njagi, Kisumu County Director of Education Rosemary Birenge and her TSC counterpart  Samuel Marigat were also present.

Opiyo urged all stakeholders to shun examination malpractices, as Principal of Dr Aloo Gumbi Mixed said the candidates should also be encouraged to work hard.

Katurimi said those who will be managing the examinations should exercise a lot of transparency and accountability, and Reverend  Nyalenge said all school heads should invest in the power of prayer, pointing out that knowledge starts with knowing God.
