Kisumu KESSHA re-elects George Opiyo as Chairman in AGM

George Opiyo has retained his chairmanship of Kisumu chapter of KESSHA.

Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) Kisumu chapter chairperson George Opiyo has retained his position after elections in the Annual General Meeting in Nakuru.

Opiyo garnered 147 votes against 43 of his opponent Irene Mboya’s of Migingo High School.

The position of vice chairperson went to Rose Madungu while Dave Okoth of Ngutu Secondary was endorsed as Secretary.

Stephen Otiero becomes Organizing Secretary.

Assistant Secretary is now Rose Berda while Sr Anastasia Nkoyiayi got the nod of the delegates to clinch the position of Treasurer to be assisted by Silas Omulo, and Stephen Otiero becomes the Organizing Secretary.

Sr. Anastasia Nkoyiayi was elected Treasurer.

Nancy Odhiambo secured the position of Assistant Organizing Secretary.

Opiyo, in his acceptance speech, thanked the returning officers for doing a commendable job, saying that the elections were free and fair. He also lauded the delegates for conducting mature elections.

He urged the Ministry of Education (MoE) to release capitation funds early, and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to recruit more teachers to address the ever lingering shortages.

On promotions, he said it should be done regularly and teachers should be notified about schedules early enough to enable them prepare.

Kisumu County TSC director Rosemary Birenge oversaw the exercise.
