Kisii University has pledged to continue working with the immediate community, the police and other stakeholders like the church for the improvement and general welfare of the institution.
The University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Nathan Igechi, said that the main objective of any institution of learning is to unite people through enlightening them with quality education and knowledge for complete coexistence among human beings and their environment, adding that Kisii University is in the centre of this mission.
While speaking at the University on Wednesday, April 2, when he hosted the Kenya Police Service County and Sub-county top officials for a familiarization meeting and awareness workshop, Prof Igechi thanked the police and appreciated the good service they rendered to the institution.
“We are very appreciative of our good relationship with you and of your protection of our students, the community, and the University’s infrastructure,” he said.
He took his time to gain insight into his vision for Kisii University, which includes transforming it into a world-class university with the best programs across the globe.
Professor Ogechi underscored the importance of their security, saying that Kisii University has a total of 635 teaching staff, among them 388 teaching staff, with over 20,000 students.

Kisii County Police Commander Charles Keses, who led the security men, assured the public of unreserved security services from his officers.
“The government that we serve with commitment will protect her people and their property at all times,” he said.
He thanked the University administration for working amicably with the police to promote peace among the University fraternity and the surrounding community. He also reminded the public that peace begins from within an individual before it diffuses to others.
He asked the University to remind students to embrace the spirit of being their brother’s keeper for a harmonious stay on campus and in the community.
