Boochi Tendere Ward, Kisii Member of County Assembly (MCA) James Ondari has called for the review of courses offered at Kenya Medical College (KMTC) Gucha Campus to attract more students and benefit the wider community.

Ondari’s call comes ahead of President Ruto visit to Nyamira and Kisii counties as from next week to launch development projects, including the KMTC Gucha Campus.

Speaking at Egetugi town, Ondari said the campus currently offers limited courses such as First Aid, Records keeping, and pharmacy, which he noted have barred many students from the region who prefer training as community health nurses.

“I request the President to hold a consultative meeting with residents when he comes and take note of their grievances for balanced distribution of development services,” Ondari said.

South Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP) Sylvanus Osoro, said the President will commission Nyamgweta and Nyamache Kenya Medical Training Colleges in South Mugirango and Bobasi constituencies, respectively, during his visit.

The KMTC Gucha Campus is expected to increase access to quality healthcare education, create jobs for locals, and improve health outcomes in the community.
