Kisii county government has pledged to support Extra curriculum activities to encourage talent growth among learners from both Secondary and Primary schools in the region.
Speaking at Magena in Kenyenya Subcounty County, Executive Committee Member for Youth,Sports,Culture and Social services Dr.Timothy Arege praised the talents and discipline that were exhibited by students during the completed Kisii County KSSSA term two competitions.
“As a county we are were amused and thrilled by the high degree displayed the Trans and have no of not partnering with you,” he said.
The competitions that were held at various fields including Magena, Ichuni Primary Schools and Nyamache Secondary Schools witnessed schools participate in Soccer, Volley and Rugby from the 11 Sub counties in Kisii.

In the boys football competitions, Sameta Boys from Sameta Sub county retained their County title after defeating Ong’icha narrowly at 1- 0, during the second half penalty.
Their winning came as a result of pulling their socks after they were floored at Sub county level by their neighbor St John’s Nyamagwa at 1- 0 at their home ground, forcing them to proceed to county competitions at the second position.
However, their celebrations after being crowned Kisii Soccer Kings for the Second time, was short lived as their coach Kennedy Ogendo collapsed and died at school as they celebrated and was rushed to Lenmeki hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the girls’ category, both Kerongorori and Metembe after the jury settled controversy between them over counter accusations of either fielding ineligible players and the win was given to Mobamba who were runs up to proceed to regional competitions.

Kisii School who have been rugby 7 power house in the region for the last consecutive years were shown the door by their arch rival Cardinal Mosocho High School at 10: 00 while Nyagichenche of Gucha South, ejected Nyangoge from Kisii South at 17: 00 to remain the overall rugby queens in Kisii County.
Hema Moja Chitago from Maaba South beat sent Kereri of Kisii Central Subcounty,home crying as they were beaten in straight sets.
Kisii County Director of education Philip Chirchir together with county KSSSA secretariat expressed their satisfaction with the results.
They wished the winning teams success as they carry the County flag to the regional competitions to be hosted in Kisumu County soon.
