Kirinyaga family seeks justice after Form 4 leaver fatally shot by police

The family of a 19-year-old who was shot and killed by a police officer attached at the Kianyaga Police Station is demanding justice for their kin.

The family of Derrick Gachoki is demanding justice after he was shot in unclear circumstance, on Saturday May 18 night during a patrol.

Drama ensued at the police station in Gichugu after irate residents of Kiandai village stormed the station demanding the arrest of the rogue officer.

It’s an incident that caused outrage in the local community.

Angry family members and residents stormed the station demanding for an explanation and justice.

Residents said that the late Derick Gachoki completed form four last year and had plans to join university this year.

“Gachoki was supposed to join University this year after completing hiss secondary education last year. His dream has been cut short by a rogue officer,” said a relative.

They said the late was in a company of others when police who were on patrol killed him.

According to Kirinyaga County Police Commander Andrew Naibei, the police officer accused of shooting the young man has been arrested and investigations has commenced.

The body was moved to Kerugoya General Hospital mortuary awaiting for postmortem.
