Public senior school principals across the country have been given seven days to submit updated Grade 10 enrolment and textbook distribution data, in a nationwide verification exercise aimed at guiding the next phase of textbook allocation.
In a notice dated June 12, 2026, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Chief Executive Officer Charles Ong’ondo directed schools to report accurate learner numbers and subject enrolment details by June 19, 2026, through an online data submission platform.
The move follows the completion of the first phase of Grade 10 textbook distribution, which was based on preliminary data provided by the Ministry of Education.
KICD says the exercise is intended to confirm actual enrolment figures as at the end of Term One, 2026, and to identify disparities in textbook distribution, including schools that may have received excess copies or experienced shortages.
The verification is also expected to support the government’s One-to-One Textbook Policy, which seeks to align learning materials directly with learner numbers.

“The Institute is seeking to confirm the Grade 10 student enrolment data in every public senior school by the end of First Term 2026 in terms of numbers of learners taking various subjects,” KICD stated.
Schools that have already submitted the required information have been exempted from resubmission, while those yet to comply have been urged to act within the deadline to avoid disruptions in subsequent textbook supply.
KICD further directed schools with unreported shortages or surplus textbooks to communicate through its official support channels for corrective action ahead of the second phase of distribution.
