Kibabii University in mourning after student died while undergoing treatment

The Kibabii University community is in mourning following the sudden death of a second-year student, Hildah Koech, who passed on while undergoing treatment after short illness.

The young scholar, who was pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree with a focus on Geography and Kiswahili, died on Monday night at Bungoma County Referral Hospital.

According to family members, Hildah had been feeling unwell prior to her hospitalization. She reportedly experienced severe headaches and was rushed to the hospital, where she later died.

The exact cause of her death has not yet been confirmed, prompting both the university administration and medical officials to conduct further investigations.

Hildah’s relative described the loss as devastating for the family, highlighting her bright and promising nature.

“She was full of life and dedicated to her studies,” she said. “Her sudden passing has left a huge void in our hearts.”

Fellow students remembered Hildah as hardworking, kind, and committed to her academic pursuits.

Social media platforms have since been flooded with tributes, as classmates and lecturers share memories of her contributions both inside and outside the classroom.

Meanwhile, arrangements for her burial are being coordinated by the family, with further details expected in the coming days.
