The Ministry of Education has confirmed January 12, 2026, as the official reporting date for all Grade 10 learners under the Competency-Based Education system. Both public and private senior secondary schools will admit the pioneer CBE cohort on this date.

Learners reporting to their assigned schools must carry the following:

  1. A clear passport photo of the student.
  2. A photo of the school location.
  3. A school map inserted into the designated section provided by the institution.
  4. The original admission letter signed by the school director.
  5. A copy of the student’s birth certificate for age and identity verification.
  6. Two passport-sized photographs to support school records and the issuance of identification cards.

Placement letters and instructions are already available online, accessible using each learner’s assessment number following the release of the Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment results in December 2025. Parents and guardians have been urged to prepare early and ensure all required documents are ready to avoid delays during admission.

Parents or guardians are also required to provide one clear passport photo to complete verification and serve as an emergency contact reference.

The Ministry emphasised that adherence to these requirements is mandatory, noting that proper preparation will ensure a seamless transition as the new Grade 10 class reports to senior secondary schools across the country.
