KESSHA Kisumu decries attacks on Principals over poor KCSE results

George Opiyo, KESSHA Kisumu County Chairperson.

Secondary school heads in Kisumu County have condemned attacks being meted out by irate parents on their colleagues across the country over poor performance in the 2023 KCSE examinations.

The county Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) Chairperson George Opiyo called out parents for the behavior and urged them to use appropriate channels to air their grievances instead of resorting to violence.

Speaking in Kisumu, he noted that the performance of candidates does not rely solely on school heads but is a concerted effort by all stakeholders.

Opiyo regretted that in schools where such actions have taken place, students will no longer respect their Principals, saying that the actions have defiled the institutions.

The KESSHA boss also asked the Ministry of Education to release the pending capitation funds, saying that the current fees paid by parents cannot cater for the efficient running of schools.
