Kerio Valley Sub-County now has its first substantive Ministry of Education Director following the posting of Nicholas Mulwa after the creation of the new administrative unit in 2024.
Mulwa was formally welcomed to the sub-county during a ceremony held at Queen of Peace Secondary School. TSC Sub-County Director for Kerio Valley, John Chepkugu, led principals from across the region in receiving the new Ministry of Education director.
Speaking during the event, Director Mulwa, who was transferred from Bungoma County, expressed optimism about steering education standards in the new administrative unit to greater heights.
Mulwa pledged to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure Kerio Valley secures its fair share of Cluster 1 and Cluster 2 schools.
“Kerio Valley is now a fully independent sub-county which will not shy away from crawling until it walks,” he told the gathering of school heads.
On examinations, the director said he would champion a system that places examination integrity at the forefront of all education processes.
He also issued a stern warning on financial management, emphasizing that principals must strictly adhere to the law.
“The buck stops with the principal if the law is not followed,” Mulwa stated.

He further directed that Maintenance and Improvement funds must be fully transferred to the Infrastructure/M&I accounts before any expenditure is made.
The posting of a substantive director is expected to streamline education administration in the new sub-county and improve service delivery to schools across the region.
