Kenyatta University have been crowned 2026 Kenya Universities Sports Federation (KUSF) football champions after edging out Kibabii University 4-3 in a dramatic post-match penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The highly anticipated national final was staged at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) grounds in Nairobi, drawing enthusiastic support from fans across the Western and Nairobi regions.
Both sides displayed tactical discipline and resilience in a tightly contested encounter. Kibabii University, buoyed by their energetic young squad, struck confidently and matched Kenyatta University stride for stride.
Kenyatta, known for their experience and depth, responded with composure to level the score, forcing the match into a penalty shootout after the 1-1 stalemate.
With neither side able to find a winner in normal time, the referee applied the penalty shootout rule to determine the champion.
