Kenyan schools have maintained a strong grip on the East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) boys’ hockey championship, with Friends School Kamusinga, St Anthony’s Boys High School and other Kenyan sides featuring prominently among the tournament’s champions.
The dominance stretches back to 2007, when Friends School Kamusinga lifted the regional title. St Anthony’s Boys High School followed with victories in 2009, 2011 and 2012, establishing itself as one of the competition’s most successful teams.
Kamusinga returned to the top in 2013 and 2014 before St Anthony’s reclaimed the title in 2015. Kamusinga won again in 2016, while Kisumu Day took the crown in 2017.
Kenyan schools tighten grip
St Anthony’s added another title in 2018, with Kamusinga again listed as champions in 2019.
Uganda’s Kakungulu Memorial then emerged as a major force, winning consecutive championships in 2022 and 2023. Kenya responded through Musingu High School, which claimed the 2024 title.
Kakungulu Memorial regained the championship in 2025, setting the stage for another fierce contest among East Africa’s leading school hockey sides.

The roll of honour highlights the intense rivalry between Kenyan and Ugandan schools, while also demonstrating the depth of hockey talent across the East African region.
