KCSE theory papers off to a good start in Kisii, Nyamira, says County Commissioner

The Nyamira County County Commissioner Erastus Mbui has confirmed that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) theory papers started well in both Nyamira and Kisii counties.

Speaking when he led other officials in the opening of the examination container in the morning, at his office, Mbui assured the public of good security of the examinations, revealing that two police officers will be sent to each of the 195 centres in the region.

“We have satisfactorily dispatched the examination materials to our schools in good condition and hope them to continue smoothly until the end of the exercise.” He said.

The county commissioner asked centre managers, supervisor and invigilators to conduct the exercise with honour as their profession and law guide and guard them.

He further warned that any person caught trying to divert the attention of the candidates by giving them fake examination papers, will be arrested and jailed.

The officer also revealed that the Nyamira County has a total of 21,511 candidates from both public and private schools.

The neighbouring Kisii County presented 39,299 candidates with 19416 boys while 19790 are girls.

The KCSE exams started with English paper one, with the Chemistry paper one following in mid-morning hour.

The start of theory examinations today follows the completion of practical papers which stated two weeks ago.

The week-long Kenya Juniors Secondary Education Assessment (KPSEA) is also expected to end today with Social studies, Christian Religion Islam and Hindu papers after the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) ended successfully last week.
