The management of Kakamega High School has scheduled for a phased reopening of the school following its closure due to a fire incident that occurred on November 6 2021.
Through a letter signed on 11th Nov by the B.O.M Secretary Gerald Orina, the management decided that Form fours would be the first lot to reopen on 14th November 2021. Form one students, form two students and form three students would reopen on 21st November, 23rd November and 25th November 2021 respectively.
The grand total of the damages incurred was Shs 21,611,360 divided by the total number of students (2200). Each student was asked to pay Shs 9823.00 to cater for the costs of repairing the damages.
Additionally, the students should be in school by 8:00 a.m on the given dates accompanied by their parents/ guardians without fail.
They should also fully pay all outstanding fees and arrears up to the second term 2021.
The letter further stated that the school would donate a mattress, two blankets and two bed sheets to the 560 students whose items were burnt in the fire incident.
