Kaimosi Friends University has moved a step closer to hosting the prestigious Africa Public Service Day 2026 celebrations following a high-level technical assessment by government officials.
On April 1, a delegation of technical officers from the State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development visited the institution to evaluate its preparedness and capacity to host the continental event. The visit was part of a formal review process initiated after the university submitted its proposal to host the annual celebrations.
The team was received by Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Mwita, who led members of the university management in showcasing the institution’s infrastructure, academic environment, and logistical readiness. The assessment focused on key areas including conference facilities, accommodation capacity, accessibility, and security preparedness.
Africa Public Service Day is a significant event observed across the continent to recognise the role of public servants in governance and service delivery.
Hosting the 2026 edition would position Kaimosi Friends University as a key academic and civic hub, not only within Kenya but across Africa.
University officials expressed optimism following the visit, noting that the institution has made substantial investments in infrastructure and human capital to meet international standards required for such a high-profile event.
The management highlighted the university’s strategic location and growing reputation as additional strengths that enhance its suitability.

If confirmed as the host, the university is expected to welcome delegates from various African countries, including policymakers, scholars, and public service professionals.
The event would also provide a platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and dialogue on improving public service delivery across the continent.
The State Department delegation is expected to compile a comprehensive report based on the assessment, which will inform the final decision on the host venue. The outcome is anticipated in the coming months.
