- The university has introduced content modularisation to break academic material into structured digital learning units, aiming for greater consistency in course delivery across the institution.
Kabarak University has launched new initiatives aimed at equipping lecturers with specialised skills to teach, assess and engage students effectively through online platforms, as part of its digital education transformation.
The development follows a one-day sensitisation seminar on Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential and Content Modularisation, organised by the Directorate of Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) under the leadership of Director Prof. Simon Karume.
Speaking during the seminar, Kabarak University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Henry Kiplangat officially launched the Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential Certificate Course and the university’s Content Modularisation initiatives. The Vice-Chancellor emphasised the growing importance of digital transformation and innovation in higher education, noting that lecturers must acquire the skills necessary to deliver quality education through digital platforms.

One of the central components of the programme is content modularisation, under which academic content is systematically broken down into manageable and coherent learning units that can be delivered through digital platforms. The approach is intended to allow students to work through clearly organised modules with defined concepts, activities, assessments and learning outcomes, rather than encountering large volumes of academic material presented as one continuous block.
The Digital Pedagogy Micro-Credential Certificate Course is designed to strengthen lecturers’ ability to design, facilitate and assess learning in digital environments while encouraging learner-centred approaches, as the university increasingly adopts Learning Management Systems (LMS), virtual classrooms and other digital platforms.

Kabarak University’s Content Modularisation Policy is aimed at creating greater consistency in how courses are prepared and presented across the institution, with content required to be accurate, relevant and appropriately structured, and assessments required to measure the intended learning outcomes.
