Kakamega Hilltop Sherri Academy has received a new school bus to facilitate safe and reliable transport for learners. The director, Geoffrey Agesa, said it is a great pleasure to join education stakeholders on the important milestone of the official launch of the new bus at the school, which is located in Lubao.
As transport is a critical component of the education sector, Agesa stated the bus will ensure learners arrive in school on time, safely, and ready to learn.
He added that the bus will open doors for children to participate in academic trips, sports, music festivals, and other co-curricular activities that are essential in nurturing talents and holistic development.
The colourful event demonstrated what can be achieved for a school community and also the church coming together with a shared vision.

Presiding over the event, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education Bernard Amwayi noted the school bus will go a long way in addressing transport, which is one of the key challenges facing many learners.
Amwayi said the County Government remains committed, through the six-point agenda, at the call of Governor Fernandes Barasa, to supporting education initiatives that enhance access, equity, and quality education.

During the unveiling of the new bus, it was revealed that it is not just for movement, but for inclusion, to ferry learners from different areas, including those from vulnerable backgrounds, to access education without barriers.

As they celebrated, CECM Amwayi emphasised transport responsibility, noting that the safety of learners is paramount, and urged the government, through security agencies such as NTSA, to place strict rules to ensure school transport is safe and well managed.
He advised the administration to ensure the bus is well maintained at all times, to engage qualified and disciplined drivers who adhere to all safety and traffic regulations in place, and to implement clear supervision systems for learners.
