Joy as Grade 5 learner in West Pokot tops Shot Put National Championship

Chol was born in 2007 in South Sudan at a place known as Western Bahr El Ghazal and currently he is in Grade 5.

In the year 2022, he came to Kenya with his parents in search of quality education due to frequent insecurity in his home county.

The family settled at St Mary’s Village in Makutano – Kapenguria town. David Chol joined Grade 3 at Makutano Primary School. At his tender age he liked participating in sporting activities while at school.

Now in Grade 5 and his star seems to be shining as days progresses.

During the primary athletics competitions held from the school sub-zone, zonal, sub-counties and county levels he was a force to reckon as he took position one all through.

At the Rift Valley Regional Athletics competitions held in Maralal Samburu-county Chol took position one in shot put.

He qualified to participate at the Nationals Athletics competitions which again he proved to be the top shot put thrower.

Chol automatically qualified to participate in the East and Central Athletics competitions to be held later this year.

Business came to a standstill recently at Kapenguria town as Chol was being received from the National competitions.

“I will make sure that I top the East & Central African shot put competitions. Discipline and determination are my driving force,” said Chol who is the pride of West Pokot County.
