A teacher at Makumbusho Secondary School in Kinondoni, Tanzania, has been dismissed from duty after allegedly administering corporal punishment to a Form Two student in violation of national education regulations.
According to a dismissal letter issued on September 19, 2025, Msila Felix Msila was expelled following an incident on September 18, 2025, in which he reportedly beat student Salim Khatib.

The letter, which was also copied to Kinondoni Municipal Director, Secondary Education Officer, School Board Chairperson, and Parents’ Committee Chairperson, stated that the action contravened a 2002 Ministry of Education directive banning the use of caning as a form of punishment in schools.
The decision was reached by the school administration in collaboration with the parents’ committee, with the letter signed by Ester Yeremia Mianga, Makumbusho Secondary School Headteacher.
