HELB disburses KSh 1.56 billion to TVET trainees and university students

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has released KSh 1.56 billion to support tuition and upkeep for university students and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainees.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba revealed that the funds were disbursed on Friday, March 14, 2025, benefiting 31,263 TVET trainees and 33,863 university students.

“On Friday, March 14, 2025, HELB released Ksh 1.56 billion to assist students and trainees with tuition and upkeep.

A total of 31,263 TVET trainees and 33,863 university students received the funds,” the CS stated.

He added that beneficiaries have been informed through HELB’s official communication channels and are encouraged to check their HELB portals for further details.

With this most recent payment, HELB has issued Ksh 32.7 billion for the 2024–2025 Financial Year, supporting 390,612 university students and 195,522 trainees at TVET institutions.

The CS reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing financial aid to support university students and TVET trainees in pursuing their academic and training goals.

“The continued provision of these funds ensures that students and trainees can focus on their academic, training, and research pursuits without interruption,” he said.
