Head of Public Service Koskei presides over school tree planting drive in Busia

The head of public of service, Felix Koskei today in Nambale, Busia County, presided over a tree planting exercise where more than 30,000 seedlings were planted across 14 schools in the County.

Speaking during the event, Koskei said that the drive forms part of the Presidential Programme on Climate Action, which seeks to grow 15 billion trees by 2032.

“The initiative reflects our shared responsibility to restore ecosystems, advance sustainable development and instill environmental consciousness among learners and communities.” He said

Additionally, the public service boss also oversaw the handover of new buses to St. Francis Lupida Secondary School and Siera Girls Secondary School under the National Government Constituencies Development Fund Best Practice Demonstration Programme organised by the NG-CDF Board, the programme which continues to support schools nationwide through targeted investments that enhance access, equity and quality in education.

The event was attended by Principal Secretaries Dr Susan Mang’eni (MSMEs Development) and Dr James Makoha (Economic Planning), Principal Administrative Secretary in the Executive Office of the President Arthur Osiya, Chair of the NG CDF Board John Olago Aluoch, Chair of KIPPRA Prof Paul Wachana, representatives of the County Government of Busia, education leaders, local officials and residents.
