Grade 6 boy from Nyaribari Chache drowns in a river, body search ongoing

The police in Kisii County have launched a search for a grade six boy who reportedly drowned in a river.

According to residents of Riabamanyi Village in Nyaribari Chache Constituency the boy was swimming with his friends in River Nyakwana when the incident happened.

His friends tried to rescue him but were overpowered by the swollen river and helplessly watched him swept away by the water.

“We tried to help but we were not able,” Said one of them.

The matter was reported to the police.

While confirming the incident Kisii County police Commander Charles Kesses identified the drowned child as Ronald Omariba.

“My officers are among the villagers looking for the body in the river.”He said.

He appealed to local divers to join hands with the officers and the village to help in the search of the body.

Kesses appealed to parents to control the movement of their children during the holidays in order to cushion them from such dangers.
