Grade 4 pupil crowned best fan in Kericho football tournament

Young football fan Joash Kipruto from Koisegem Primary braved the cold and climbed a thorny tree to watch the Aaron Cheruiyot-led KKK Tournament, earning admiration and a KSh.100,000 prize.

In a touching display of passion and resilience, 9-year-old Joash Kipruto, a Grade 4 pupil at Koisegem Primary School, has been named the winner of the best fan challenge during the ongoing Aaron Cheruiyot Football Tournament, popularly known as the KKK tournament in Kericho County.

Kipruto won the hearts of many after he was captured braving the chilly weather and climbing a thorny tree to catch a better view of the thrilling matches.

His courage, energy, and unwavering love for the game stood out, earning him admiration from fans and org alike.

The young football enthusiast has been rewarded with KSh. 100,000 for his outstanding display of passion and determination.

His act symbolises the spirit of sportsmanship and the deep connection between the game and its supporters.

Speaking during the announcement, Senate Majority Leader and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, who is also the patron of the tournament, congratulated Kipruto for his dedication and infectious enthusiasm.

He noted that the boy’s resilience mirrors the essence of community football — unity, excitement, and love for the game.

In addition, Mama Leah Maritim received a special commendation for her bravery and spirited support throughout the tournament.

Her energy and commitment to cheering on the teams did not go unnoticed, and orga confirmed that her gift will be delivered as a token of appreciation.

The KKK Tournament, which has continued to draw massive crowds and showcase raw local talent, now has a new hero — a young boy whose determination from the branches of a thorn tree inspired an entire community.
