Grade 4, Class 8, Form 4 to resume physical learning on 12th October

Following President Kenyatta’s directive during his 12th address to the nation asking the Ministry of Education to fine tune things before reopening, Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof George Magoha in a statement dated 6th October 2020 has announced that Grade 4, Class 8 and Form 4 students are set to resume face-to-face learning on 12th October 2020.

In the statement, term two will run from 12th October to 23rd December 2020 when learners are set to break for one week.

Term three is set to kick off on 4th January 2021 to 19th March 2021. However, Class Eight pupils will have their KCPE from 22nd March 2021 to 24th March 2021.

On the other hand, Form fours will sit for KCSE from 25th March 2021 to 16th April 2021.

However, the CS affirmed that the government has already met the full cost of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) for all candidates.

The CS urged school heads to ensure strict adherence to the Covid-19 safety protocols.

“There will be mandatory use of face masks, monitoring of temperature for learners, staff and other people accessing the institutions,” reads the statement.

The Ministry in the statement further advises all institutions to observe high level of hygiene and uphold the guidelines on social distancing.

“All teachers are encouraged to continuously provide psychological and spiritual support to learners,” reads the statement.

Prof Magoha, however, thanked parents and caregivers for their patience and resilience in supporting learner’s welfare during the Covid-19 pandemic period.

Over a week ago, Prof Magoha gave a green light to the varsities and tertiary colleges to recall finalist students.
