GPF Kenya, Pepperdine university partner to transform education sector

Global Peace Foundation, (GPF) and education stakeholders forge strategic partnership with Pepperdine University in a bid to transform Kenyan education.

Global Peace Foundation (GPF) has successfully convened a high-level strategic engagement with the leadership of Pepperdine University yesterday, June 16.  This crucial meeting took place alongside the Religious Freedom Roundtable held in Nairobi.

The dialogue brought together a formidable coalition of Kenyan education stakeholders, with the Department for Higher Education, Makini School, Kigwa Ridge School, Mount Kenya University, The Nairobi Waldorf School Trust, University of Nairobi, and Regis Runda Academy all participated, and air their collective insights converging with Pepperdine University’s expertise to explore innovative and transformative approaches to education and youth empowerment.

The timely discussion focused on three key shared priorities; strengthening youth engagement in economically viable ventures, aiming to equip young Kenyans with the skills and opportunities necessary to thrive in the modern economy.

Secondly, the group aimed at enhancing teacher mentorship and coaching, which will elevate the quality of education through improved training and sustained capacity building for educators.

Finally, the meeting prioritized promoting access to justice, by empowering educators with essential skills in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, thereby contributing to a more just and harmonious society.

Participants at the meeting jointly acknowledged the imperative for a collaborative proposal designed to implement these interventions, effectively bridging critical gaps within Kenya’s existing education and justice systems.

Distinguished attendees included Dr. Daniel DeWalt, Senior Vice President for Global Impact and Chief of Staff at Pepperdine University, David Davenport of Pepperdine University, Jim Flynn, International President of Global Peace Foundation, Rev. Fr. Canice Chinyeaka, Ph.D., International Program Development Specialist at GPF; and Daniel Juma Omondi, Africa Regional Representative and Kenya Country Director, Global Peace Foundation.
