Govt to fund 90 percent of the needy students’ university education

The government will finance  90 percent of university students’ education especially those coming from the poor background, Education Minister Ezekiel Machogu has said.

Machogu added that the new model to fund University and TVET education will help students access online jobs in the modern world.

The CS who was speaking at Gullib Lityei secondary school in West Pokot County acknowledged that the country was facing a teacher shortage but the ministry was targeting to employ more than 20,000.

He urged the community to give girl child education a priority.

He said girls should be taken to school to compete for top positions in the country.

“We should shun outdated practices that hinder girl child education.

Former West Pokot county governor John Lonyangapuo urged the government to consider West Pokot when employing teachers because it has a huge shortage.
