The national government has embarked on an ambitious plan of training the youth for digitally enabled jobs in line with the Kenya National Digital Master plan 2022-2032.

Speaking during the launch of Jitume Digital Lab at Eldama Ravine Technical Training College, Cabinet Secretary Information Communication Technology (ICT) & Digital Economy Eliud Owalo said his ministry is committed to provide internet connectivity in 25,000 Wi-fi hotspots in all wards across the country.

He argued that setting up of digital labs in every ward  will ensure the youth have access to adequate digital skills.

He noted that the government’s agenda to prioritize on the Jitume programme aims to equip the youth with the necessary knowledge and opportunity to access digital space.

He challenged the youth to embrace technology since the world is now hugely dependent on the sector.

ICT & Digital Economy PS Eng. John Tanui urged the youth to take advantage of the programme to enhance their online businesses.

He also added that the launch of government sponsored public Wi- fi hotspots in Marigat, Baringo County is in line with the national government’s ICT agenda to urge the youth to take advantage of the program.

He hinted that government is working on equipping digital labs across TVET colleges.
