Governor Mwangaza disburses Ksh6M worth of scholarships to needy students

Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has disbursed Ksh 6 million worth of scholarships to 300 needy students.

The scholarships were carefully awarded to children from all wards in Imenti North, Imenti Central, and Imenti South Sub-Counties to ensure the completion of their education without much hustle.

Mwangaza said secondary school students will get scholarships worth Ksh 10,000 each, while college and university students will get Ksh 30,000 each in addition to the bursaries that were disbursed recently.

She said each of the students will be educated by this fund until they complete their education.

The occasion held at Kinoru stadium today marked the launch of the countywide issuance of scholarships dubbed as The Meru County Scholarship Fund with parents of the needy learners and various government officials in attendance.

The Meru County Scholarship Fund is a project run by Governor Mwangaza’s administration in an effort to improve access to education for all learners in the County regardless of their economic background.

Governor Mwangaza encouraged all student beneficiaries of the scholarship funds to work even harder for better results in their examinations.

She said that 4,650 needy learners applied for the scholarship but only 974 beneficiaries were selected from what she termed as a painstaking and highly transparent process.

“This initiative is part of my administration’s efforts to improve access to education for all learners in Meru County regardless of their economic background because we recognize that education is society’s greatest equalizer,” said Mwangaza.
