The Police in Kisii County have commenced investigation to establish the cause of the death of a 35-year-old former Kisii University clerical officer.

According to residents of Daraja-Mbili estate in the outskirts of Kisii town, the man was found dead and his body dumped outside his rental house on Sunday afternoon.

His landlord said that the man, Silas Monari, had been staying in his house well until recently when he seemed depressed because he was among the University staff who were laid off.

The land lord, Lawrence Ratemo said that his tenant seemed depressed but remained optimistic as he always talked of being reinstated at the University soon.

“Although he looked depressed, he was a friendly and responsible man who paid his rent on time,” reported Ratemo.

Monari went missing from his residence for two days before his body was found lying near the compound with a slit throat.

His sister Grace Kwamboka said that she last saw him on Wednesday, December 14 when he visited her home.

“He seemed a jovial man with no sign of suffering,” she said.

The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy and further investigations.
