Former Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at Kenyatta University

Former Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at Kenyatta University and Kenya’s former middle-distance athlete Mike Kipsugut Boit has sued his driver for swindling Kshs1.4 million  from his various bank accounts in Kapsabet and Eldoret three years ago

While presenting his testimony in chief, the 76-year-old retired Professor told the court that his trusted driver, Kevin Kipruto Lagat, was secretly obtaining his M-Pesa PIN and waiting for the right moment to strike his bank accounts.

The retired don, who testified before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan, stated that he trusted his driver enough to conduct a money transaction using his mobile phone in his presence.

The court further heard that Boit went to Naiberi police station in Ainabkoi Sub County, where he reported the matter and also recorded a statement.

The complainant also  told the court that he engaged Lagat to drive him from Nandi Hills to Nairobi for some work and that he used to pay him daily since he had not hired him on a permanent job.

The prof. shocked the court when he said that his driver used the mobile phone of a person who died 15 years ago to fraudulently transfer the money to the deceased’s phone number.
