Peter Ochieng Orero alias Mwalimu Orero has clinched the Kibra parliamentary seat after beating incumbent Imran Okoth and former football player, McDonald Mariga.
The former Dagoretti High School principal won with 33,008 votes against Mariga’s 20,049 votes. Imran came third with 18,901 votes.
Orero was given his certificate on Thursday morning by the IEBC Returning Officer for Kibra Constituency at the Upperhill Secondary School.
Orero is a High School teacher who has taught in Kamukunji Secondary, Langata High, Upper Hill and his current station, Dagoretti High in Nairobi.
In a past interview with a local radio station, Orero had stated that hehad mentored many football stars like Dennis Oliech, Victor Wanyama, Jamal Mohammed and even McDonald Mariga who was vying against him.
“I have mentored stars like Dennis Oliech, Victor Wanyama, Jamal Mohammed, McDonald Mariga, Patrick Oboya. I even paid for their school fees,” he said.
Orero also served as the chairman of the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA).
