Simon Kitalei Kachapin, the first governor of West Pokot County and former principal of Ortum Boys Secondary School trounced Prof. John Krop Lonyangapuo, the immediate former West Pokot County Governor in the just completed polls.
Kachapin beat Lonyangapuo with 86,476 votes while the latter followed with 84,610 votes.
While Hon. Kachapin was the principal of Ortum Boys secondary school, the performance of the secondary school was extremely high and it was frequently ranked among the best performing schools in the county and the country.
In his speech, Hon. Kachapin promised to improve the education, health, business trade and agricultural sectors among others for the benefit of the West Pokot residents.
Meanwhile, immediate former Principal of Totum Secondary School Rael Aleutum Kasiwai is the newly elected Woman Representative in the same county.
