Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has appointed former Meru County Assembly speaker Dr. Joseph Kaberia Arimba as a member of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council.
Dr. Kaberia, a two-term speaker is set to serve in the council for a period of 3 years.
The former Speaker contested for the county senatorial seat but lost to Senator Kathuri Murungi.
The Council that was established in 2013 is mandated to undertake design and development of curricula for TVET institutions’ examination, assessment and competence certification and advise the Government on matters related thereto.
This is in line with Sessional Paper No. 2 of 2015 that embraces Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) system.
In March this year, the Cabinet restored the operation of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training – Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (TVET-CDACC) which was abolished in 2022.
The decision was made in line with the goal of enhancing the ability of TVET institutions to equip the youth with technical skills meant to help them better contribute to national development.
