A Form Three student from Chemalal Secondary School in Kimulot Ward, Konoin Sub-county, Bomet County, is fighting for her life after she was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student following a disagreement linked to a relationship dispute.
The shocking incident occurred on Sunday after the two students attended a Christian Union (CU) service at Chemalal AIC Church.
According to reports from residents and fellow students, the disagreement is believed to have started during or shortly after the church service.
Witnesses said the male student allegedly armed himself with a knife and waited for the girl outside the church compound.
The female student, who was reportedly unaware of the danger awaiting her, was attacked along the road moments after leaving the service.
She sustained three stab wounds to the stomach during the assault, causing panic among nearby residents and worshippers.
Good Samaritans rushed to the scene and quickly organized transport to take the injured student to Kericho County Referral Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Her condition had not been officially communicated by the time of publishing this report.
The suspect is said to have fled immediately after the incident, although local authorities have launched investigations into the matter.
Police officers are expected to record statements from witnesses and establish the circumstances that led to the attack.
