Flamboyant city lawyer appointed to Kirinyaga University Council

Lawyer Silas Jakakimba joins Kirinyaga University Council alongside three other members appointed by Education CS Julius Ogamba.

Flamboyant city lawyer Silas Jakakimba has today officially joined Kirinyaga University. Joining other newly appointed council members, they began official duties as soon as the event ended.

Kirinyaga-based public university is a home to over 13,000 students and more than 100 accredited programmes. It targets leadership in quality training, research, innovation, and technology transfer aligned to Kenya’s Vision 2030.

The council was appointed for a three-year term on July 25, 2025, via a Gazette notice by Education CS Julius Ogamba. Other members include Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy, Ursula Sabina Oyatsi, and Margaret Kathambi Gitonga. The team is tasked with strengthening governance, institutional oversight, and strategic growth.

In his statement, the excited Raila Odinga’s long-serving PA noted that Kirinyaga University offers market-responsive programmes across IT, Health Sciences, Engineering, Business, Pure and Applied Sciences, Hospitality, and Architecture & the Built Environment, aiming to produce job creators at bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels.

He expressed gratitude for the appointment, saying he was honoured to serve “on a value-add premise” and underscored the role of learning in social mobility: “EDUCATION remains the Greatest Equaliser of The Conditions of Human Beings.”
