Parents and teachers at Waasya Primary School in Kitui County are still shocked after raging inferno swept through the school library and administration block reducing books worth a million shillings to ashes.
The school administration is now appealing to the national government and well wishers to support the institution with new learning materials.
For now the pupils will have to suffer as they look forward to getting new books.
“It’s a big shock to the school and the community. The books and learning materials that we have been lost were vital to the education of the pupils. We are therefore appealing to the government and well-wishers to support us purchase new books” said the head teacher Simon Kinuthia.
Kinuthia said it took them more than four hours to put off the fire during the morning incident adding that the cause of the fire has not yet been established, but the police are investigating the matter.
