A family in Kitui is still in shock after their kin, a three- year-old girl tragically lost her life after accidentally consuming a charred green mamba snake.
As per the reports from the detectives, the unfortunate event unfolded on Saturday, July 15, 2024 after Salim Mwendwa, the child’s grandfather, killed and disposed of a snake in their home compound.
Tragically, the three-year-old girl, while playing in the compound, mistook the burnt snake for something edible and consumed it, leading to her untimely death.
The child allegedly swallowed parts of the snake while in the care of her grandmother, Margret Nzangi Mwendwa.

Upon discovering this, the grandfather, Salim Mwendwa hurried to inform authorities at Mwingi Police Station, leading to a visit by police officers who documented the scene at the homestead.
The child’s body has since been transferred to Mwingi Level IV Hospital Mortuary as the family plans for burial.
