Family in Kisii seeks justice after their Grade 3 child died from Matatu hit

A grieving family in Botabori village,in Kisii County  is seeking justice over the tragic death of their 8-year-old Grade 3 son after being hit by a speeding Matatu vehicle on Thursday, February 19.

It is reported that the boy was heading home for lunch before meeting his death.

According to Ronald Moiro, father to the deceased, the unknown driver fled the scene without reporting the accident or assisting the victim.

The body was taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem and preservation, pending further police investigation.

However, villagers, led by clan elder Jane Nyakerieko have called upon Kisii County Governor Simba Arati, area MP Anthony Kibagendi, and other leaders to intervene and ensure justice is served.

They’re demanding the arrest of the suspect driver and conductor to face traffic crime charges.

The community is also accusing traffic police along the Nyakoe-Mosocho road of laxity, alleging that they are more interested in collecting bribes from traffic offenders than enforcing the law.
